Remember the much-admired ‘Rings of Fire’ at the Opening Ceremony of London’s 2012 Olympics? We did that!
No, we didn’t actually set the rings alight – that was the job of the pyrotechnics crew – but Webb’s Rigging founder, Erlend Webb, did rig the entire structure safely and securely high above the new Olympic stadium. It may be almost ten years ago, but that feature remains a highlight of Danny Boyle’s highly imaginative and innovative live action show celebrating the unique heritage of the British Isles.
Of course, we rigged more than just the famous flaming rings. The new Olympic Park was an enjoyable blank canvas just waiting to be brought to life. Hundreds of riggers and staging specialists, several of whom are now an integral part of the Webb’s Rigging community, were only too happy to oblige.
